Part-Time Theater Specialist — March and April 2020

The Montessori School of San Antonio is seeking a part-time Theater Specialist to work directly with students and support the Music Faculty as they prepare students for a musical production.  The Theater Specialist will be involved in blocking and choreography, as well as support with costumes, set and props.


This position is scheduled for mid-March through early April 2020, with afternoon hours.  Performances will be in the afternoon and evening of April 2, 2020. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with middle school students and possess skills to engage students to develop the skills of self-expression through theater.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide students in rehearsal
  • Share a love of theater with enthusiasm
  • Act as a role model for our students
  • Meet as directed with the Music Faculty to plan lessons and rehearsals



  • College degree or proof of enrollment in a college degree granting program
  • At least 3 years musical theater experience
  • Experience working with youth population
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work well within a team
  • Ability to effectively engage students




The Montessori School encourages employment inquiries from talented teachers in these areas:


Lead Montessori Teachers for Primary and Elementary grades. All lead teachers must be Montessori-credentialed at their levels with preference for training programs recognized by AMS, AMI, or MACTE.


Classroom Assistants for Primary and Elementary levels must demonstrate a love of children. Experience working with children at the appropriate level is preferred. Montessori training is a plus but not required.


Middle School (7th and 8th Grade) Lead Teachers are trained and experienced in their specific subject areas. Familiarity with – and embracing of – Montessori principles and philosophy is required, although Montessori certification is not. Middle School academic areas include mathematics, science, history, world literature, and English grammar and composition.


Special Instructors teach music, physical education, Spanish, library skills, and art. Montessori certifications are not required in these areas.
