MyMSSA Day

Why Attend MYMSSA Day?
  • Stay Informed: Receive your child’s class placement (not available before the event).
  • Meet Your Teachers: Students and families are encouraged to meet their teachers or stop by and say hello.
  • Get Organized: Pick up car ID tags, submit additional immunization records (if needed), learn about volunteer opportunities, meet the counselors, and receive the after-school program offerings.
  • Gear Up: Grab our 2026-2027 spirit shirt to wear on Fridays.

2

Parent Teacher Orientation

Attending Parent-Teacher Orientation Night is essential. It is your opportunity to hear directly from your child's teacher about classroom procedures and expectations for the year. This event gives you valuable insight into daily routines, learning goals, and how you can best support your child’s success.
Complimentary childcare is available for all MSSA students.

Montessori 101

If your child is new to our Primary program, attending Montessori 101 is mandatory. This two-day, two-hour-per-day session is designed to help children transition smoothly into the classroom environment by introducing them to key procedures and expectations in a small-group setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When will we receive back-to-school information?

Our weekly school newsletter, the Dispatch, will resume in the last week of July, when all back-to-school details will be shared. The Dispatch is delivered every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. via ParentSquare.

  • What time should we arrive and how does carline work?

Arrival is from 7:50–8:15 a.m. for all levels. Primary and Lower Elementary families use the front of the Main Building, where greeters open car doors, and Upper Elementary and Middle School families follow the traffic line to the gym for dropoff.

  • What should my child wear to school?

Children should wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely and safely, helps them be independent, and does not distract from work or peers.

For Primary students, pants and shorts with elastic waistbands are recommended so children can manage the restroom independently. Clothing must fully cover the chest, stomach, sides, back, and buttocks at all times; midriff‑bearing tops are not allowed. Clothing with large or distracting graphics, words, logos, brand names, or cartoon images is discouraged, and jewelry, tattoos, stickers, and glitter on bodies or clothing are not allowed.

Primary children should wear athletic shoes or soft‑soled, closed‑toe shoes; shoes without heel straps, Crocs, boots with heels, flip‑flops, clogs, mules, and “heely” roller shoes are not permitted, and hats are for outdoor use only. Each Primary student needs a complete change of labeled clothing (under- and outer‑clothing) at school, stored in a labeled bag, with an additional set kept in the Child Care Room if they attend After‑School Care.

For Elementary and Middle School students, clothing should be clean, properly fitted, and reflect dignity toward self, work, and classmates, with the same coverage expectations: undergarments must not show, and chest, stomach, sides, back, and buttocks must be covered in all positions and activities; midriff‑exposing clothing should not be worn. Clothing with distracting graphics, words, logos, brand names, or cartoon images is discouraged, hats are for outdoor wear, and make‑up, tattoos, stickers, and glitter are not allowed at school.

Elementary and Middle School footwear should be soft‑soled shoes or sandals with heel straps, with athletic shoes required for P.E. and music; all clothing, backpacks, and lunch boxes should be labeled with the student’s name, and families are encouraged to provide a hooded raincoat for rainy days.

  • What does my child need to bring on the first day?

All students will need a labeled water bottle, a healthy snack or lunch (if applicable by level).

Primary students need a full change of clothes in a labeled bag.

Your teacher communication will outline any class-specific needs.

Families do not need to purchase materials. MSSA provides all materials needed.

  • How do lunch and snacks work?

Lunch can be brought from home or ordered through MSSA’s lunch partner, Crave-It Nutrition.

For Primary and Lower Elementary, families sign up at MYMSSA Day to provide snacks for the whole class. Upper Elementary and Middle School students bring their own snacks from home.
