What if a School was Built Around a Library?
The Library at the Heart of Learning

Imagine a school where the library is not tucked away at the end of a hallway, but lives at the center of campus, an open invitation to read, wonder, research, create, collaborate, and belong.
At The Montessori School of San Antonio, the library is more than a collection of books. It is a place where questions begin, interests deepen, and children discover the joy of learning for themselves.
Located in the center of our main building, the MSSA Library is surrounded by classrooms and woven into our students' daily experience. From a young child choosing a book independently to an Elementary student researching a new topic, the library supports the habits that matter most: curiosity, concentration, critical thinking, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.
A Library Designed for Montessori Learning
At MSSA, Primary Full-Day, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary students participate in Library as part of their weekly school experience. This regular access helps children build a relationship with books and information that grows with them, from early language development and read-aloud favorites to independent reading, research, and deeper inquiry.
For our youngest learners, each Primary classroom has direct access to the Library. This close connection makes books and language a natural, accessible part of a child’s day, supporting the early foundations for reading, writing, communication, and self-expression.
The library is one element of a carefully prepared Montessori environment on MSSA’s 24-acre North-Central San Antonio campus. Our classrooms, gardens, patios, nature trail, and outdoor learning spaces work together to give students meaningful opportunities to explore independently and engage deeply with the world around them.
For families looking for a Montessori school in San Antonio, the MSSA Library reflects what makes our approach distinctive: we honor each child’s natural curiosity and provide the environment, materials, guidance, and time for that curiosity to grow.
